"I *was* with another surgery in town but it had reached the stage where I *had* to move to a new surgery as unless you called between 08:00 and 08:30 you couldn't book an appointment - even if you made it clear you didn't need it that day. that was the OLD surgery.
Castlefields surgery is awesome. I rarely have to wait more than about 20 seconds before I am talking to someone and I am usually offered a choice of afternoon or morning appointments.
As someone who doesn't like to spend too much time at the doctors BUT I have had a TIA and a couple of other "moderately important" issues - I do need to visit for medication reviews every now and again. I have ALWAYS found reception staff extremely amiable and the doctors superb.
When I first moved to this surgery I thought I would have a "5 minute in and out" consultation (as I was used to). The consultation lasted for a considerable time and the Doctor took the time to discuss options with various meds, asked how I felt about certain ones and if there were any other conditions I was concerned about.
I could not fault the attention and care I was given for a moment, professional but amiable, efficient and spotlessly clean too. another welcome change from the last place.
It's true that sometimes you can wait a few minutes more to get through if you call at a "busy time" - but if you have a large number of people all trying to make an appointment at the same time, you have to accept that sometimes there will be a delay. It is rare not to get straight through though - and to give a harsh review because the phones were all busy seemed mean of one review.
I have just booked an appointment - as always friendly service, asked if the suggested appointment time was ok (it was fine), all booked and sorted - and I have full expectation that the appointment will be as civilized and professional as it was last time.
I don't normally bother to give reviews - but when I saw that the place has been "marked down" because the phone lines were busy etc - it seemed only fair to redress the balance a little.
As for the "when did you visit the surgery" question below, I have selected august 2018 as that is when the appointment is for - and I cannot recall the month I was last there!"
