"As a patient with a chronic condition, I often do my own research before visiting the GP on what could work for me, and I am willing to try to help me get better.

I find that the GP's have their own agenda about your treatment, and are not willing to discuss alternatives. Its all about cost saving, and not saying to the patient, "yes let's try that". If it has no negative effect on the individual, then should cost be an issue. Especially since there have been stories in the paper about GP practices prescribing sun cream and toothpaste.

it's also very difficult to get an appointment, you have to make an appointment just in case you might need one, and then cancel it, rather than booking one when you need one.

I called a few weeks back as I was quite unwell, they had no on the day appointments, and the next appt was three days later....doesnt work when you're feeling unwell on that day."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
