"I find some of the reception staff unsympathetic, sharp to the point of rudeness and unhelpful. This happened on two recent occasions when I had booked an appointment with a doctor and phoned to see if it could be changed to a double appointment. I was told in no uncertain terms that appointments can be no longer than 15 minutes but the way this information was relayed to me was both harsh and angry.I found this attitude rude and upsetting. However I duly arrived on the day of the appointment and found that it had been completely cancelled so I missed an important appointment! I couldn't then see my doctor for a month. On a second occasion I phoned on the 18th January to see if an insurance form I urgently needed was ready for collection. I was told it was there and I believe signed by one particular doctor but could not be given to me as the person who deals with forms couldn't deal with it until the following Wednesday. This form has been approved by the doctor and is urgently required by my insurance company to cover an appointment I have with a private doctor on the 1st February. I had said that I would collect the form myself but this was not possible. There is no doubt that some receptionists regard themselves as in charge of the practice and treat people with little or no respect. They are the front of the practice and should be trained in efficiency, politeness and sympathy, remembering they are dealing with people who are ill, in pain, depressed, etc. and certainly not able to deal with the arrogant attitudes from ignorant and rude women who cannot possibly regarded as professionals."
