"I've been a patient of Concord for over 20years.
I used to admire and respect this surgery, but I haven't been able to say that for some years. It is worse now than its ever been (since the new surgery has been built).
Today they brought me to tears again.
Last week when I finally spoke to a doctor on the phone, I was advised I needed some samples doing. I then had to collect the items and carry out the sample taking myself. I then had to drop the samples back into the surgery where I was asked at the reception what they were for. There was a gentleman waiting behind me and I really didn't want to repeat what they were for. It was private. I was then shown a tatty black plastic bag on the desk where all the samples were thrown in to.
Today I received a text at lunchtime saying that my sample was abnormal and could I phone the doctors. Shouldnt they phone us??? When I did phone I was told that the "telephone appointments" were full for that day and I'd have to phone back tomorrow. I tried to explain that I had been asked to phone a doctor and they would have none of it.
They brought me to tears as I don't know what is wrong with me, but can't speak to a doctor. In addition the "admin" team are so rude, abrupt and lack any type of care or compassion for patients. I told my husband this afternoon that I would do anything to leave the practice and join a new one.
Why is it you can't just book an appointment and TALK TO A DOCTOR IN PERSON. My daughter has moved to another close by town and the service and care she receives from her practice is second to none. I envy her.
I spoke to my sister in law who is a nurse at Southmead for help. She too despairs of Concord Medical Centre. She has also complained on a number of occasions but never heard anything back. She told me that I won't hear anything either.
Please, please reconsider how you run Concord Medical Centre. It is so unfriendly in how the appointments work and please, please train the staff to show a modicum of compassion."
