"I had an appointment to see one of the practice nurses today for a chronic kidney disease/disorder annual review.I found the nurse cheerful and welcoming which put me at ease. She carefully explained what the blood test and urine test results indicated and readily answered my questions. Following a telephone consultation earlier in the day, I then went to see the doctor who had suggested to me that I could come to see him following my appointment with the nurse, thus saving me an extra journey to the surgery. The doctor was able to confirm a diagnose of gout in my finger and we discussed a course of action. He also discussed the knee x-ray which I had had just over a week ago. We again discussed a possible course of action and he offered to give me a cortisone injection there and then, an offer which I accepted. I could not have asked for more and left his consulting room full of praise for this doctor and for our beloved NHS. As I left the surgery, I had a word with one of the very helpful ladies on the reception desk regarding two prescription items and she arranged to have our practice pharmacist give me a telephone call. This she did before I had left the town. I realise that, as a retired person, I can visit the surgery during the day, most days but I really do think this is an example of the excellent service Davenal House provides. Thank you."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
