"As a qualified healthcare professional who works for the NHS I have to say this GP surgery is the worst service provider I am yet to encounter. It is impossible to get an appointment. You call at 8am and donât get through for ages, when you do you are told to call back tomorrow as there are no appointments. Just like that. If people call their GP surgery surely it is for a reason. They are sick and unwell. They just dismiss you and hang up the phone. I was told the GP would have to give me a call back as only the GP can book me an appointment. Since when I asked? The receptionist rudely responded âI donât know since when it just is what it isâ. I can never speak to my patients the way this diabolical surgery speak to their patients. It is Wednesday today and I have been tying to get an appointment since Monday and no success. When you do see the GP from my past experience they just dismiss your symptoms. My options are now to go private (which I just shouldnât have to do, but as quite unwell I need a diagnosis for what could be wrong and I fear if one remains with Derry Downâs they will not get seen) or change my GP surgery entirely. This surgery I cannot recommend to anyone. They need to improve their service as a matter of urgency as this is actually unacceptable. I never leave reviews, but this I had to write as the service is just terrible."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
