"Iâve been a patient here for 24 years and have only needed their help 5 times for acute problems which havenât cost the practice much at all compared to chronic conditions.
Getting an appointment is difficult, but only because the ratio of patients to GPs there is so high, so you expect to have to wait and instead I try to be as flexible as possible, take whatever slot Iâm offered and work my day around it.
The doctors have always been helpful to me and the rest of my family. However, my last appointment I went in for an acute injury I was struggling to treat on my own without expert help and it was beginning to affect the circulation in my foot. They were running on time but I had barely walked through the door before I was told I just had a corn, it would go away within 6 weeks and soaking it would help....impressive diagnosis considering I hadnât even taken my sock off for them to see the state of my foot. I was in and out within 3 minutes. His bedside manner was dismissive and made me feel belittled. I felt embarrassed trying to explain that I donât think itâs a corn as Iâve had them before, have done research and it also doesnât look or feel anything like a corn. Since then Iâve gone home and 1 year later Iâm still dealing with nerve entrapment in my foot (which I had to research myself in the end). I donât want to go back for advice or help treating it because Iâve done the bulk of the treatment myself already and I felt like I was perceived as a nuisance for asking advice on something none life threatening, but Iâve had to change my lifestyle to one much less active and I canât do my job any more; this is hardly promoting health and reducing GP visits in the long run. So regardless of his poor bedside manner, for the sake of an extra 2 minutes to get the correct diagnosis, I hope the individual gives more time to other patients."
