"After an operation 2 weeks previously I became ill and called 111. The paramedics were very prompt and rather than go to A&E they tried to speak to a doctor at this practice which took 20 minutes for a doctor to return the call. After a battle of words an appointment was made for the afternoon. The doctor said what did I think was wrong with me! Surely that is for the doctor to decide. The doctor told me they were to busy to sort me out then and she would have to finish her surgery before phoning round to decide how to treat me. I received a phone call about an hour and a half later to say to return to the surgery ( lucky I had a lift as buses do not pass near my house to get to the surgery) .Finally I picked up a prescription for an alternative to my blood thinning drug had to wait for it to be made up and return to be shown how to administer it. I was exhausted as it was only 2 weeks after my hip replacement operation.and the frightening reaction to drugs in the morning."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
