"Recently I attended the practice at Fownhope for a standard 40 plus health check with a nurse.This revealed I had a very high cholesterol level ,because this did not fit in with my lifestyle this diagnosis came as quite a surprise to me to say the least but it was soon proved to be a hereditary condition rather than about my lifestyle . Following a consultation with the very new G.P I was reluctant to take a medication at first but with his patience , understanding and persuasive analogies I soon began to take the medication and amazingly it reduced the cholesterol to a normal level rapidly .The same G.P was kind enough to unexpectedly ring me personally , late in the day before a Bank holiday began to give me the news of this good result .That short yet most thoughtful call was very welcome ,it reduced the stress of me having to wait until after the Bank hol because I did not know the result would be back so fast as it was , his effort to call me helped me to feel I was still a person, that someone cared and genuinely made a real difference to me .Thankyou."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
