"I've been with this surgery for 20 years and my GP is excellent. I've also dealt with other GPs at the practice and they're all good. However I can't say the same about the receptionists. Today, Monday, I called the practice because I sprained my ankle very badly. I can't walk, is very swollen and painful. The receptionist told me abruptly to go to a pharmacist and get advice from them. Apparently the GP wouldn't waste time with me for just a sprained ankle. I suppose to go to work today, I work in a busy supermarket but I won't be able to go. I can hardly walk and I can't definitely go to a chemist. I was hoping a doctor could give me some kind of diagnosis over the phone and if I show some pictures of the injury, the doctor could tell me how severe my sprained is and guidance on how to go about it. The nature of my job requires me to walk a lot and I don't know what I suppose to do, what limitations I should put etc. This is not the first time something similar happens with a receptionist at this practice. I must say, I'm always threading having any form of communication with them and the only thing that makes me stick to this practice is the GPs. I know the receptionist is blond because I know exactly who she is by the tone of her voice...after so many years."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
