"I visited the Downsway surgery last week for a Mirena coil insertion. I was incredibly nervous and had put off going, due to a bad birthing experience nearly 2 years prior with my son.
From the off, the Dr was incredibly calming and put me at ease, answering any questions and concerns I had regarding the procedure. I did not feel rushed as they were very patient. The dr was also very informative and explained the risks.
The procedure itself was no where near as bad as I had worked it up to be in my head. Again the Dr was very patient, reassuring and kept asking if I was ok and that they could stop at any time if I felt the need to. The dr had put on some calming music and made me feel as comfortable and relaxed as I could be, also getting me to focus on some deep breathing.
Apart from some slight cramping which is to be expected, it was all very smooth and over quickly.
We then sat down and I was given an information booklet, a card so I know when it was inserted and due to be taken out (handy) and some advice for the following weeks.
So far I have had no problems and the cramping didnât last long at all!
Overall, I was very impressed and happy with the care I received from this Dr, the nurse that helped and for the way they took into consideration my previous bad experience and put me at ease, for which I am very grateful.
To anyone putting off going, like I was, you really do not need to to worry, I would 100% recommend."
