"I am a nurse with a recent cancer diagnosis.
I rang the surgery to politely enquire about a DS1500 for a PIP claim for myself.
Although polite the receptionist was very flippant saying oh they ( I take it the DWP) refer everyone to us.
As a professional who has experience of reporting on PIP applications I was shocked at the uncaring attitude.
She went on to say â I know exactly what a DS1500 is and they are only issued for people with a terminal diagnosis with 6 months to liveâ. I never disputed her knowledge but at a difficult time for me was asking for help with it.
I clarified this was probably the case with my health diagnosis.
I just want to point out that I was not ringing to fleece any money out of anyone. I was in genuine need of support at a difficult time.
To add I have always found the surgery in general since my diagnosis to be very responsive and helpful and hope it continues."
