"I moved into the area recently and have been very disappointed with this GP service, particularly the Allendale Practice. I have found some of the GPs there to be very unfriendly and unwelcoming, the best was a registrar/training GP who had a great manner and was friendly and instilled confidence in the patient, but he has now moved on.
The surgery has decided to not offer patient access (the EMIS service) and has instead gone with another provider - there was no warning or information about this shared, so many people simply thought that patient access was not working. Information in the waiting rooms also still directs people to patient access, although this GP is not signed up to it. The new system is appalling poor, there are no appointments able to be made online and trying to get through by telephone is difficult. The reception staff are unfriendly and very defensive if anything is queried.
Trying to get appointments is really almost laughable. Asking to see a GP and being told there 'might' be something available in three weeks. Being told by one of the GPs there seeing the same GP is essential and the onus is on me to do so, but then that GP has no appointments for over a month? Trying instead to get a nurse appointment sometime around June, to be told there would probably not be anything for the whole summer because of 'staffing problems'.
All in all, a very poor service being further let down by an appalling poor online system."
