"My next appointment is in 17 days as not able to get appointment any quicker.
I have been a patient at Hollybush surgery for over 20 years. I now find it is impossible to get an appointment here, except for Nurse appointments. Have to travel to other Surgeries in order to see a GP (Lee Bank, Smethwick, Oldbury). Never see GP of choice, don't even know who my GP is or the names of any of the doctors? I am registered to book online appointments, but usually never on the same day or week, or phone, however all phone appointments have usually been taken. Have emailed for a "ring back" appointment in the past and this has been OK but not like actually seeing the doctor face to face.
I was under the impression that there were supposed to be more GP appointments to prevent people attending other services, which cost the NHS more! I have not found this to be more beneficial to me, in getting an appointment at the surgery that is local to me. I am thinking of joining another surgery, going to the Walk-in GP at Selly Oak or Boots, Birmingham City centre, or choosing an Online GP service as I would probably get an appointment quicker.
I understand the pressure receptionists feel when confronted by people like myself who feel frustrated by the System."
