"I am writing this review because I am appalled at the service offered on this occasion.
On 27 December I had a series of blood tests taken and was asked to ring back in a weeks’ time for the results. If there were any concerns with the results the GP would ring me.
On 4 January I rang back for my results to be told there is nothing to worry but to make an appointment with a nurse for dietary advice.
The receptionist who I had spoken to earlier tried to make an appointment with a nurse, as there was no appointment available at Jockey Road surgery before I was went away on holiday, the earliest appointment she could make was on 5 January at the Erdington surgery. When I asked where was the surgery, she said it was on the site of the old Jaffray Hospital site near Erdington Six Ways island. As I did not know where the old Jaffray Hospital was she then offered me an alternative appointment at the Kingstanding surgery on 10 January.
I then went on to ask about the pop-up poster standing in the surgery entrance which states you can access your records online. I was told I would need to fill in a form and bring 2 forms of ID, one of which must be photo ID. I told the receptionist that I would call up with the said information so I could access my test results, in the meantime she would print off the address for the Kingstanding surgery.
I walked up to the Jockey Road surgery saw the receptionist, completed the said paperwork and was given the login details to enable me to view/print off my test results. I was also given a print out of my appointment with the nurse at the Kingstanding surgery.
Returning home, I found a letter from Jockey Road surgery dated 28 December but not posted until 3 January and sent via 1st class postage asking me to book an appointment with the nurse!!!
I logged onto my computer and followed the login details to find access was not available and I had to ask for access from the surgery. Yet the receptionist clearly said I could login immediately and see my test results
My issue is when I completed the form to gain access to my records online why was that not done immediately, if it was going to be delayed, I should have been given a time line for when it would be accessible. Even to get a copy of my results these would not be available until 9 January.
As it is now the weekend, there is nothing I can do until the surgery opens on Monday 7 January."
