"Utterly disappointed in my visit. Felt like I was bothering the staff. Didn't use the self checkin screen as it's hidden from view when you walk in and used reception instead to tell them I was there. Was told well when we're busy make sure you use the self check in - how am I supposed to know what you class as busy? There was me and a single other person at the desk with 2 employees?!?!
Was called by the doctor who proceeded to run off to the consultation room with me barely keeping up. He wasn't friendly one bit, I suffer from migraines which I have been prescribed blood thinning medication for from hospital only for this doctor to tell me I don't suffer from migraines, he said i must just have a normal headache. I told him my symptoms that I thought was a throat infection seeing as I had almost every symptom that is stated on the NHS website and he basically told me it must be my hayfever (I've been so sick for the past week, I've had hayfever for years and this is not it!). He was speaking as though he thought I was lying, I'm genuinely upset as this is not the first time I've been dismissed and not listened to, unfortunately it's not just this practice but others I have been registered to also.
I'm not one to visit the doctors often and for no reason and last time I was dismissed by the GP I had to go through A&E and a hospital stay for someone to finally find what was wrong with me.
The NHS and especially A&E are under great stress and yet I can't help but think if GPs listened better to their patients we wouldn't have so many admissions when people get desperate because no one else is keen to listen!
It doesn't take a lot to be sympathetic or friendly with someone who is clearly not well. Any normal human would be sympathetic. I'm not at the doctor's on a Friday afternoon for the fun of it so please do not treat me like I'm not worth your time."
