"I have been a patient with the practice for over 60 years and will not be one for much longer.

Over the last couple of years the service has declined from quite bad to totally unacceptable. My main complaints are centred around:-

Inability to contact surgery
Difficulty arranging appointments
Poor experience during consultations

This morning for example, I tried to phone for an appointment. The line was busy for 55 mins (I use ring-back). When the surgery finally replied I was queued for a further 15 minutes before I was able to talk to reception. This was to arrange an urgent appointment for my wife. Although this is an extreme example it has frequently taken more than 30 min to reach reception.

Later, in strensall surgery I tried to make a routine appointment with a doctor. I was told that there were no appointments. This is ridiculous, I accept that I might have to wait a couple or three of weeks, but to not be able to book anything at all is totally unacceptable.

It seems to me that this problem is likely to force everyone to say their problem is urgent.

I am also not very happy with my experience during consultations with doctors, examples-
Appearance of being under pressure
Talking to the computer
Where there are multiple symptoms (which may or may not be connected), being asked to prioritise

I have to say that I have lost all confidence in the practice and am thankful that my medical problems are not particularly complex."
