"I rang to speak with the staff regarding a referral for an xray as I think I have a broken ankle which happened two weeks prior but at the time I felt it was just a sprain and then I went on holiday where it did not improve, i was told they will not give me a referral form unless I am seen by a GP and that the next available appointment would be 9 days away (I rang on the Tuesday and was not able to have an appointment until the following Thursday), to which I responded 'shall I just go to hospital then as I cannot wait that amount of time as the injury will be healing if I had a fracture by then for the receptionist to respond with 'yes go to hospital'! I work in a hospital so know the pressures that A&E and minor injury units are under therefore felt this was extremely unreasonable.
The lack of appointments has been the case on numerous occasions when I have tried to get an appointment, even when I have tried to get an appointment for my 8year old daughter that had an infected toenail that I could see tracking they informed me I would not be able to get her seen for 2 days!"

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
