"Having recently had a minor operation I was unhappy to learn that I would have to travel to Grace Swann Hospital, Spilsby to have my stitches removed. This is a round trip of about 30 miles for a five minute appointment. I consider this unacceptable service. In the past I have been able to walk to my local surgery at Old Leake to have stitches removed.
I was told by a member of staff that if patients are unable to drive themselves to Spilsby it is suggested that they take a taxi. This is appalling( does the medical centre pay the fare? I think not).
Considering the size of the area which the medical centre serves and the amount of money which was spent recently on 'improvements' to the facilities the service provided becomes steadily worse. This includes the new dispensary which is far too small and unfit for purpose (at least 20 people seen queuing outside the dispensary just before Christmas). Furthermore, the fact that services such as ear syringing are no longer available.
I was told by one of the doctors that OLMC was offering minor surgical procedures later this year. The prospect of having surgery at Old Leake and then having to travel to Spilsby to have stitches removed is ridiculous.
I have no quibble with the care provided by the doctors and nurses but it appears that recently the scope of services is being cut back more and more."
