"I have been registered with this practice since I moved here in the early 80's. All 3 children and my husband (who has secondary progressive MS) have been registered here too. During those years we have all had some occasions where sometimes we were less than happy with things, others where we have been happy and several when things were better than good. Today I must feedback excellence! The entire experience I am reviewing here MUST be noted. Not to acknowledge the seamlessness and speed of the process together with the dedication of all the NHS staff involved would be remiss.

Last Friday 8th June I called reception at approximately 9am to make an appointment and was given one for 11:15 that morning with the duty doctor as I had been in significant pain for the previous week with a hip/thigh/leg problem. There was no wait for the appointment, He greeted me in the waiting room as soon as I arrived. Once he'd examined me, he took some blood tests and he referred me to Yeovil X Ray department for a hip X Ray as a walk in patient and before I left he gave me a prescription for analgesics. I arrived at the hospital at approximately 12 noon, waited for the radiographer for around 10 minutes before being called and X Rayed. I was at home in Castle Cary by around 12:45pm. The doctor telephoned me at around 7pm to talk me through the results (X Ray and written report) which he had been sent during the afternoon. He advised me that he would call me back with the blood tests results at the beginning of the following week. An hour later he called me back with the results of the bloods.

On Thursday 14th (yesterday) the doctor called me to enquire how things were. I was able to explain that things had changed and the pain was still significant but had moved. The doctor made me a follow up appointment for 9am this morning Friday 15th June which I have just attended. The doctor re-examined me and administered an appropriate treatment in the hope of addressing part of the problem. We have agreed to speak again at the end of next week to re-assess the situation.

Whilst I appreciate that naming specific persons here may not be appropriate in some instances, I wanted to express my sincere thanks to the doctor specifically and also more widely to the reception/appointments staff at the surgery and to the hospital X ray dept for the speed, efficiency and interest given to my care. Given the resource pressures of the NHS generally and that we are all made so aware of, this experience for me has been OUTSTANDING. "THANK YOU!""
