"As there were no upcoming appointments for a new condition when I enquired I was told the duty doctor would phone me that afternoon to arrange one. At 2.30 the duty doctor phoned, noted my symptoms (slight but lingering) and we arranged an appointment for 3.30. After a very short wait I was briefly examined, diagnosed and prescribed. The doctor ensured I was completely satisfied and knowledgeable about my condition and I left feeling that, whatever problems the NHS has with its funding and administration, the thoroughness and professionalism of its doctors is not at issue. As Julie (on this thread) states, there can be problems with the routine telephone and appointment system but it is worth persevering to receive the generally excellent treatment which ensues. Although this senior citizen has always had excellent attention from Riverside (and other departments in East Sussex actually) I will, in fact, be writing separately to the surgery to especially commend the doctor I saw."
