"Tried to book my daughters 8 week vaccinations but next available appointment was when my daughter was 9 and half weeks old, not great but this was just the start of the problems. The nurse was off sick on the day of the appointment. This meant my daughter couldnât have the vaccinations. No one phoned me to let me know, or even texted. Rearranged the appointment for the next available appointment, which was 5 days later. Not convenient as needed to arrange child care for my other daughter but feel that the vaccinations are important so worth the inconvenience. Turned up to the doctors, checked in and waited for my appointment time, got called in and was then told that they couldnât give the vaccinations because they had a problem with the fridge. Again I could have been called to be informed this. So new appointment booked for another 8 days time. My daughter will be 12 weeks old, at this age she should be having the second set of vaccinations.
I understand that both reasons are completely acceptable reasons to cancel appointments but the practise should be providing extra sessions to make up for all the missed appointments as I canât be the only parent affected by this.
We are told as parents how important it is to vaccinate your child, which I completely agree with but if your doctors practise is making difficult to get an appointment, I think the practise needs to relook at their practises to ensure they are providing the care needed."
