"Needing repeat prescriptions, why is it that Omeprazole used as a stomach protector to prevent gut ulcers when Ibuprofen is taken, is not part of my repeat prescription list? I have had a lot of trouble in obtaining Omeprazole from the practice pharmacy when I needed it, trying different ways to ask for it, including letters, writing the name of the medication on the bottom on the repeat prescription list (as recommended by the pharmacy on site), but at least 3 or 4 times my request for Omeprazole has been ignored and it has NOT been included when I have collected my prescription and I have had to practically beg and plead to be supplied with it, being forced to return to the practice sometimes 3 times. I have osteoarthritis in hips and knees and try to avoid repeat visits anywhere - walking causes pain and instability. I buy Ibuprofen and Paracetamol cheaply from superstores to take on 2 separate days a week when I do house chores and shopping, otherwise I try not to take any medication or if necessary Paracetamol. Is buying Ibuprofen the reason I don't have Ibuprofen as a repeat prescription the reason wny Omeprazole is not included on my repeat prescription list when I think Omeprazole should be part of that list? all I have even been told that it is not on the list, but why do I have to struggle to obtain it? Must I buy it myself like Ibuprofen and Paracetamol? Would having Ibuprofen as a repeat prescription help to get Omeprazole included in my list? I am seriously thinking of changing GP practice as when my previous doctor was there, I don't think this would have happened."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
