"This practice has gone down hill over the years and it has got to the point now where I am looking to change practices because of the appalling way the GP’s treat you along with the reception staff.

Reception staff laugh at you down the phone for asking for an appointment on a Monday. I will only call the doctors if I feel I really need to. I have had several encounters where GP’s have made me very upset with the way they have treated me. It is like they do not care about your health, even though that is what you go there for, looking for assistance.

It took me until I sat in the room with a GP and refused to move until she wrote me a referral for my tonsils to be removed as I had had tonsillitis about 15 times in 1 year – however she said that I hadn’t had it enough times. I was having to take so much time off work it was getting to the point where I had no other option than to have them removed. All the GP’s belittle you – if you do not want to be working with patients and the general public and wanting to help them do not be a doctor!!!!

My recent encounter was with a doctor who when I went in and explained my situation and the reason I was there, sat there with a foul looking face on him and literally didn’t care. He didn’t examine me (stomach pains and sickness). He said he thought it was acid and he told me to go get some tablets and didn’t really explain where to get them from or what they actually did. I had to ask this information and ask how long I took them for. He told me that I would be able to get the MG I needed over the counter. When I went to get them I was informed they did not go that MG and that I would need to get a prescription. I then had to call the doctors and literally beg them to give me a prescription for the tablets. Once I got these it said to take them for a month which the doctor confirmed with me and confirmed if I am feeling no better after a month then to book an appointment and will do some blood tests (this was after I pushed for an answer after asking what happens after a month).

So the month is up – I was back to feeling how I was before and in agony and the symptoms had not changed. I called up and asked for another prescription as I was in agony and didn’t know what else to do – the confirmed I could have it and again on the packet it says take for a month and then book a review. I also asked for an appointment to take some blood as per requested after 1 month of taking the tablets. The receptionist was really nice actually and stated that the doctor hasn’t put in any request and advised he was not in and therefore would have to call me tomorrow to book an appointment for the blood.

I am still awaiting the call for the blood tests."
