"I have been struggling with mild to moderate to severe acne for 8 years and during the past 6 moths it has been having a very negative impact on my mental health. I have seen numerous doctors throughout this time who have not taken me seriously and prescribed me the topical treatments and antibiotics that I was started on 8 years ago. Some totally misunderstood me and thought I was being vain, they couldn't empathise with me or begin to understand the toll this skin disease takes on individuals.

I saw a Dr at Stoke Surgery last week who listened to me and took me seriously, it was an amazing change from the usual disappointing appointments that I have endured recently. I finally have a referral to a specialist who can help me further, I have been after this for years. I want to say thank you so much for listening to me, it has made me feel miles more positive and like there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel! Thank you."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
