"I called first thing on Monday morning to get an emergency appointment for my severe conjunctivitis - my eyes were very painful and stuck together. I was told by the male receptionist that they were a doctor down and I would NOT get an appointment that day which was not very helpful. He suggested I went to the walk in centre at Wycombe Hospital if it got any worse, It did and I spent over 2 hours there and was eventually seen for 5 mins - I had an eye infection as well and was given eye drops and antibiotics neither of which have made much difference. I called the doctors surgery again today (Wednesday) as soon as the phone lines opened and was already number 12 in the queue. I finally got through to the male receptionist again and after being quite persistent I was offered an appointment at 11am. I rarely go to the doctor but it shouldn't be this hard to get an emergency appointment. If I had been given the correct medication to start with I wouldn't need to go there today and I would be feeling a lot better than I am currently."
