"When I actually see a Dr here (for myself or my children) I find them all (except one) to be helpful, caring and supportive. Same for the nurses and health care assistants.
The receptionists do their best and are very polite and helpful.
The problem with this practice is the difficult to get an appointment. You basically have 2 choices. 1) wait for at least 10 days. This applies to myself or my young children or 2) say its an emergency. Then you can get a same day appointment. I think the Adams Practice need to work on some middle ground to these options. I have been a patient here for 8 years and it has always been the same but getting worse in recent years.
When I say, I can't wait that long for an appointment, I am asked is it an emergency. Well, no its not as if it was I would have rung 999 or be at the hospital. But yes, I or my child needs to be seen in the next few days. So I have to say yes it is an emergency.....
If you want patients to stop using A and E then you have to educate them on what an emergency is. So stop making us say its an emergency in order to not wait 2 weeks.
This practice needs to look at different ways of offering appointments."
