"I have just had a total hip replacement. I had to see a nurse for a second time, to remove the remainder of my staples. Unfortunately this second nurse was unprofessional. I had to explain to her how many staples were left in ( I would have thought that would have been on my notes from my previous visit}. During taking out the first staple, which was painful and bled, her personal mobile rang. She gave me a pad to hold over the bleeding. She said she had to take it as a package was being delivered. I assumed it was for the surgery. It turned out to be a personal call about a delivery for herself. She then found the other 2 staples. Whilst she was taking them out, she had one eye on her phone, which was on her desk, and one eye on removing my other 2 staples. She kept saying "don't they realise I am working". The nurse didn't clean the wound and reapplied the old dressing stuck down with a couple of pieces of tape. I asked her if she would change my compression stockings but she refused saying " she was not allowed to because of Covid.". I found this odd as she had just removed staples etc. I wish to say that I am extremely satisfied with my doctor at this surgery. It is unfortunate that this nurse did not live up to the very high standard of the other nurse and my doctor. The review ratings apply to this visit only."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
