"I have no complaints about the staff or medical attention I have had from the MMP but my concern is that I am now elderly and find it impossible to get an appointment with the doctor of my choice. It is worse than that I also find it difficult to get an appointment with anyone and now consequently don't bother and put up with my problems.
The system is that I have to phone at 8am, the line is always engaged, and when I eventually get through all the appointments are taken. If I am lucky enough to get an apointment then I am only able to discuss one condition. This is ludicrous as many conditions are interrelated. Also, to enable me to discuss the other condition I then have to go through the whole rigmarole again and phone the next morning at 8am.
In addition I am not able to see a doctor but have to see the Practise Nurse first which if the condition is a minor ailment is sufficient. But I think I am of sufficent intelligence to know whether I need to see a doctor or not rather than have to see the nurse who will refer me to a doctor who may not be the doctor of my choice.
The systems at this practice need to be reviewed urgently as many people live with their conditions for too long given the above hoops one has to go through to get to see a GP.
I have put a date in below about when I last visited the GP and saw a doctor but it isn't correct as it is so long I am unable to remember.
