"Have been with this Practice nearly 10 years now and very happy with it. The only problem is that in the last few years it has become so popular it is harder to get appointments now and you have to wait longer, particularly if you want to see a particular GP, but it's still quicker than many others you hear horror stories about. For urgent situations there is a triage call-back service, and you are usually called back within an hour or so, and if warranted you can get a same-day appointment. Doctors go the extra mile, I once got a call-back at 8pm, way beyond closing time but the doctor was still returning calls. There are quite a few doctors and some have particular specialities as well as doing everything else so I've been cross-referred to different colleagues. Music in the waiting room helps keep you calm. Only thing that could be improved is that there is usually quite a wait to have blood tests and I do wonder if the sofa in the waiting room will survive long as it's used as a climbing frame by all the kids, I stay well clear."

Qualifications - DGM, MBBS, MRCGP

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

General Practitioner

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
