"I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure following a series of investigations which were instigated by the practice nurse. I saw the GP as the nurse arranged an appointment for me. I have been prescribed an initial month's supply of medication and was told to see him again for a review before they ran out. He told me to pre book an appointment but this has proved to be impossible. Every time I have contacted the surgery I get a different excuse; receptionists can't book in advance, someone has taken the rota home and today's excuse is that they are short of doctors. I was under the impression that untreated high blood pressure can lead to heart disease or stroke so I am concerned that I am unable to see the doctor. I don't have the luxury of being able to ring umpteen times before someone answers the phone in the morning due to work commitments. I very rarely visit the GPs surgery and I am far from happy that when I do need to go, I can't get in. This used to be an amazing surgery but it is inadequate now."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
