"I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff at the practice, in particular two doctors and a nurse. After being taken unwell whilst attending a routine appointment I was treated efficiently, and expertly for a serious heart condition. I was extremely lucky to have been in the right place at the right time and felt I was in very capable hands in a very frightening situation. The practice was equipped with the necessary ECG equipment to be able to recognise the warning signs and a defibrillator was on hand and ready in the event it was needed, which fortunately for me it wasnât. An ambulance was called for, which attended some 20 minutes or so later, but in the interim I was constantly reassured and felt I was in a safe environment. The paramedics, who took charge of the situation when they arrived, were very complementary about the practice and commented on them having ECG equipment and experience of itâs use on site, which for a patient was comforting to hear.

Once again my sincere thanks to everyone, the practise professionals stepped in and dealt with my situation in a calm manner which kept me calm too.

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
