"I tried to give this surgery a chance and stuck with it for 4 years even though I had my misgivings about it at the beginning. Unfortunately, I have ended up very disappointed in this surgery and the attitude of some of the GPs.

If you suffer anxiety and depression along with routine physical complaints, I'd avoid this place. There's a revolving door of locums (nothing against locums as some are great) and some with attitude problems and can be unnecessarily rude.

I decided to leave at the end of last year after an appointment that left me distressed and in tears with the patronising and judgemental way I was spoken to by one of the GPs (possibly a locum but who knows with this surgery as there's never any names on the doors and you're never told who you're seeing). I was told I was a hypochondriac, criticised and told off for having been referred for investigations by the usual GP (for altered bowel habit) and to apply "mind over matter" and then ironically given a pep talk on mental health stigma from a GP who was exuding it from their very pores. I was also reminded I'd taken up too much of their time on that appointment. (Another irony that I'd hardly been to the GP that year didn't slip by me.)

After this, my anxiety did spiral out of control over the next few days after having been absolutely fine for nearly a year (even when I'd undergone serious stress earlier in the year) and the depression began to rear its head again just to make the whole experience more 'fun'. I was advised to up my medication by the hub GP and had to request an increase from my usual GP. I then requested a telephone appointment from the surgery to do this as I was going to run out of medication. I was ignored for 2 weeks after booking an appointment. I had to keep contacting the surgery which was awkward and humiliating for me, plus the receptionist sighed every time they realised it was me.

Even if this GP had felt the symptoms I was visiting them about weren't to be concerned about, there were so many different approaches they could have taken which could've resulted in a much more beneficial outcome without the distress.

So I decided, for the sake of my own mental health, if nothing else to leave this surgery as the whole experience here made me afraid to go to the GP. I find this sad as I was at my previous surgery for over 20 years and they were amazing. Of course they had the usual appointment/time issues but the key thing was that they treated you with dignity, made good decisions and gave sound advice.

As my new doctor speaks to me like a human being, I have some hope that my faith might be restored."
