"So today 30th january 2019, i go to collect my auto repeat prescription, to find out it's run out.
I think to myself well that could be true a lot has happened since I last collected my prescription, Christmas, new year and for 2 weeks of January I was ill.
So I pop round to the receptionist and explain the situation and asked if I could possibly make a telephone appointment to renew it. The receptionist asks me if I've run out of said prescription to which I answer yes. Then she tells me she has popped me on the triage list for this evening. Fantastic i think, i wasn't expecting to get an appointment until the next week at the very earliest.
Note, i made no demands for this swift service.
I go home and wait for the phone call from the doctor.
The doctor calls and asked me what's the matter. So i start to explain, I've let my auto repeat prescription expire, to which he abruptly informs me that it hasn't run out and does not do so until March. Then he asks what do i want? So i start to say, but the pharmacy and he not only interrupts me mid sentence to informs me he is due to finish work in 10 mins, so impatiently asks me again what do i want?
Well i would have thought that was obvious, i wanted my regular auto repeat prescription, i thought. So i ask for the items i needed, then he tells me i need to make an appointment for a prescription review and says goodbye.
So i thought that prescription reviews were done when the auto repeat is renewed, so if my auto repeat hasn't expired then why do i need a review. So as you can tell by the length of my review i was left feeling upset and confused and not really wanting to have anything to do with the doctors. When people go to see the doctor they are usually feeling vulnerable and it can take a lot of courage sometimes to go to the doctor to get something checked, so the last thing you want is to be made to feel like, by the doctor, that your wasting their time and that leaving work on time is more important than talking to you. This is not the first time I've had problems with auto repeat prescription and will probably not be the last."
