"I called and called for an appointment and after 25 minutes of being on hold I finally managed to make an appointment, I never usually have to specify why I need the appointment but the receptionist replied with âI canât book you in unless you tell me whyâ. I replied that I didnât want to specify my needs as I wanted to speak face to face with my doctor about the irregular periods I am suffering with from my implant and I needed advice about what was happening with my body. Then, after calling my family and panicking them about needing to speak to me as a matter of urgency, I then received a phone call back saying that they simply donât âdealâ with sexual health issues. I tried to explain my situation and was told I would have to go elsewhere when I have always been to townhead to discuss my implant and to have it put in and removed. I was told to go somewhere in skipton which is a sexual health clinic. Which I didnât need, and from which there was no answer and I spent another 20 minutes on hold. I needed advice from a doctor in a normal practice but was turned away. I have been with townhead surgery for 15 years and never once had a problem with seeing a doctor about my periods and contraception.this was a simple situation that they have dramatised and completely dismissed. And calling my family and worrying them before trying to contact myself was utterly disrespectful."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
