"I have been a member of this health centre for the last three years since starting at the university, and during this time I have suffered from a mental illness. After seeing multiple GPs, I finally found one doctor who was actually willing to listen to me, only to find that all her appointments are booked a good month in advance (completely understandable considering she is one of two doctors I have actually found to care about you). This means that on days when I need an appointment, I have to go down to the practice early in the morning to book an on-the-day appointment. This would normally not be a problem, however every time I have had to go into the practice, the reception staff are very rude and make you feel even worse than you currently feel. I do not understand how the reception staff lack the basic skills that mean when their service users come in, they donât feel bad for being ill. I have found that the majority GPs themselves donât particularly want to listen to you and just want you out the door again the moment you sit down. I had one particularly horrible appointment in which I was experiencing particularly nasty side effects of a medication only to be told âwhat did I expect from choosing this medication?â and asked to leave. This particularly degrading experience left me in tears and I will not be seeing that particular doctor again.
Overall if you donât mind being talked down to by reception staff and are happy to wait for ages to see one of the few good doctors, VPHC is the place for you. Otherwise I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere."
