"I despair of this online system for requesting prescriptions. I had a medication review in January and the GP infomed me he was changing my tablets to another brand. No problem, I was fine with that. As I still had 6 weeks left of the other tablets he told me he had set up the new tablets on the system and to just order them when my other tablets were due to run out. Simple, right? Sadly not. I have tried to order them online and the new tablets are on the system but I can't order them. I rang the surgery to be informed that I have to have a medication review before they will do prescription, regardless of the fact I had a medication review a month ago. As I am getting low on my tablets I have to ring at 8am and get an appointment for that day to see a doctor to get my prescription thus taking away an appointment that someone who is ill could use. I would totally understand if I had started the new tablets and then review after but I haven't as I am still taking the old tablets. I wish the GP had given me the prescription for the new tablets when I saw him in January and I wouldn't be having to go through all this rigmarole now. By the way, I have no complaints about the GP I saw or any of my dealings with the receptionists who are very helpful. I am just frustrated with this online system which we are encouraged to use. I just want to order my tablets without any fuss and unnecessary trips to the surgery. I am a carer for my dad and finding the time to get down to the surgery can be difficult sometimes so I thought the online service would be great for me. Can't say it has to be honest."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
