"Nurses and phlebotomists working at the practice are professional and always pleasant to deal with.

If you can ever get a doctor's appointment (usually a two week minimum wait), they are about average in general, with a couple of notable exceptions who, by virtue of the fact they are good mean a longer wait. However, since reception and administration are "in charge", the service of the actual healthcare professionals is overshadowed.

I have been made to attend the Coalpit Heath practice to see my "named" Doctor, only to turn up at Coalpit Heath and be told I had gone to the wrong practice ( even when I showed them the appointment card written by the Yate receptionist it was my fault!)

Reception insist on getting chapter and verse on what is wrong with you (They have notices up to tell you it is important so that the doctor knows how best to treat you), but when you get to see the Doctor they either have no notes on why you are there, or think you are there for something else.

They will not leave a coherent message on your home phone " for data protection reasons" ( but can't actually cite which part of the Act prohibits them doing this: because there isn't one!), just saying " ring the doctors surgery", meaning you have to ring them the next day instead: usually for something innocuous of because they are cancelling your appointment because someone is off sick. In the alternative they use your mobile number to SPAM you with texts about research, customer satisfaction and the like: even when you ask them only to use it for the purpose it was provided (Appointments!): and using information for purposes other than those it was provided for actually IS a data protection breach!

They cancel things off your prescription request, without referring to a Doctor, when they think you do not need them yet or just claim they didn't get a prescription request : even when you have out it in the box yourself and have witnesses.

If you call anywhere near a "lunch" period, forget about even getting through, obviously the concept of staggering breaks is beyond them.

They offer "telephone appointments" with the doctor if you insist you need to see someone asap but won't give you any clue at all what time the call might be ( so it isn't an "appointment" at all), then glare at you when you try and explain that you work, and should not take calls at work, so need to know when the call will come to make sure you can be somewhere to take it: as if to say if you can go to work you can't be that ill!

There are not enough characters allowed in the box to continue with the list, but suffice to say most people I speak to that are with the practice ( who are usually about 4 to 6 people in the Pharmacy each time I visit that have wrong or missed items or in a rage following an appointment), agree that If there was a viable alternative surgery nearby that did not have a long waiting list there would be a mass exodus."
