"I'm not sure whether there is simply a lack of care or lack of common sense with the appointments system. When I registered, I was informed that appointments can be made in a variety of ways. These were in person, by phone or via the online appointment system. The online system is not used, you can't get through by telephone for love nor money and forget going in in person. I've just done that to be told that I need to come in and queue at 8 am in order to get an appointment for Friday. It is Tuesday today.
I have a lump that has developed in the joint of my finger which is causing a numbing sensation in my hand and arm. I have looked for assistance elsewhere and been informed that I must see a doctor. I am making a record of this here in the hope that someone at the surgery sees this and reviews the system that is in place. I don't want to go to Aand E and the pharmacist has also informed me that I need to see a doctor. At a loss ????
I can not recommend somewhere that makes it difficult to access health care when needed.
Update: now really concerned. I contacted the health centre and was in the call system for just over 25 minutes. When I got through, I informed a very helpful operator what my concerns were. Immediatly, I was informed that for lumps, the doctor wants to see those early!!! I informed the operator that this was the opposite to what I was told five hours ago when I came in to make an appointment. The operator told me that the receptionist that I spoke to earier was new.
I'm really concerned that even having explained in great detail what my issue was concerning, I was fobbed off and my issues was not treated with the urgency required. I will be making a complaint to the practice manager following on from this review."
