"I have been a patient at This GP practice for years and have always received an exemplary service.My review is based on a private paid for request which I have never had to make before and maybe my expectation of how it would be dealt with has been a little high.
My son was due to go on a school trip which i had to cancel as he was unwell with what blood tests showed as probable Glandular Fever.He''d had a couple of trips to see the GP and he was reviewed thoroughly at both visits..
In order to try and reclaim some of the holiday costs I need to have a medical certificate completed.I phoned up last Monday (16th July) and was told that I could bring the certificate in, there would be a charge - which I expected -,but until they saw the form they couldn't advise how much this would be and if I dropped it off by Tuesday it would be ready to collect on Friday.I dropped the form off last Tuesday and then came home to a missed call from the surgery.On calling back,I was told before the form was even looked at, I would need to pay £30.Ok,this wasn't what I had been advised the day before but I took the £30 back down the same day.
I was there today (23rd July)and asked for the form.I was given it but when I checked it hadn't been completed.I took it back to the desk and was told to leave it but it may take a week as the GP'S complete them on a part time basis around other priorities,again i understand this but when i explained I had brought it in and paid £30 nearly a week ago,i was told to ring midweek to see if it had been done!I understand that this is a private request to an extremely busy NHS service but to demand £30 from me before it could even be looked at to then receive this service is a little disappointing!"
