"The new appointments system at Woodside is abysmal. I suffered a nasty shoulder injury and was unable to get through on the phone so in desperation I went to Warwick Hospital A&E for an examination and x-ray which fortunately showed nothing broken but suspected soft tissue damage or torn tendons. The pain persisted, so a few days later I again tried to book an appointment at Woodside. I finally talked to a receptionist late in the afternoon and she booked me into an out-of-hours appointment at Tile Hill surgery where I saw one of their doctors. They referred me for a soft tissue scan as the pain was so extreme, but a few days later it seems Woodside intervened and cancelled the referral and wrote to me to tell me to take over the counter pain killers. I had tried to avoid doing this as I am taking a number of drugs following two heart attacks, especially the blood pressure tablets which carry warnings that they react with Ibuprofen. Instead I paid and went to a private sports injury physiotherapist and have been through a series of massages/exercise regimes. However, the pain is now so bad I have finally started taking the Ibuprofen and decided to stop taking the blood pressure tablets for the duration. I would have liked to discuss this with a qualified doctor but this simply is not possible with the terrible Woodside appointments system. Instead itâs a case of guesswork and Wikipedia!"

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
