"I am not able to give a review of the treatment at this surgery due to my struggles to register. Having moved to the area my partner and I both had difficulties registering here. The surgery operates specific registration times that are difficult to make if you are working. Following registration they will not allow you to see anyone until your information has come through from your previous surgery, after which you must have a new patient check up with a nurse, after which you can finally book an appointment. Given waiting times for an appointment this means that someone who needs to see a GP for a potentially serious condition may have to wait for over a month due to bureaucracy. Both myself and my partner were told separately by staff to go to A&E if we wanted to see someone sooner, which is completely baffling given the pressures on the NHS and the supposed shift towards preventative, community based practice. In addition if you are already concerned about a potential health problem, the added wait time and dismissive attitudes of staff adds to anxiety. In my case when I finally found time to go in to register I was told this would not be possible until my new driving license comes through with my current address on it, despite bringing multiple bills and other proof of address. I'm not sure what the surgery is like once you get in but I have found my (failed) attempt to register stressful and upsetting and do not intend to use this practice."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
