"I requested my repeat prescription which has always been issued for about 10 years without any problems When I went to pick it up today I was told it had been rejected. This came out of the blue with no information as to who or why this had suddenly occurred.
I then had to join a queue at reception that was almost out the door. I Ieventually complained that my tablets should not have been rejected without warning as I went to pick them up, especially as I had run out of them and was going on holiday the next day. I got no joy from reception who said I should have had a review 14 months ago. I pointed out that I had seen a GP since that date over another issue and was asked about what tablets I was taking, but he never mentioned anything about a review. I have been receiving my tablets every 2 months this year with no warning about having to have a review or else my prescription would be rejected.
I then saw 4 different reception staff trying to sort the problem out. I was then told that I could see a doctor who had not been expected on duty but was now going to arrive. I waited another half hour but was then suddenly given a signed prescription without having to see anyone. I was told to make an appointment before the next scheduled issue, to which I replied that if they had said this at the previous issue I would have obviously had done so and there would not have been this problem. I wasted the best part of 2 hours trying to reolve the issue.
The GP's should not reject repeat prescriptions just as you about to collect them. It makes sense to warn people if they are about to be cancelled."
