"I suffer from depression. A month or more before Christmas I booked an appointment to see a doctor, it was an appointment I was told to make to look at my wellbeing. My appointment was 4.20 pm. I checked in and it said the doctor was on time with appointments. I sat and waited and waited. Apparently we are allowed 10 minutes max. At 5.40 pm I asked the receptionist if the doctor was free due to having an airport run AND the fact my appointment was overdue 20 minutes. She said not at this time. So I sat and waited. At 5.00 pm I asked the receptionist what was happening and she told me that the doctor was new therefore was doing 20 minutes consultations. I told her that as she was not made aware of any emergency in the doctor's room, the patient had her 20 minutes, my 20 minutes and another one's 20 minutes. I was also annoyed that the Dr could not see ME, but when a potential patient came in, the receptionist told her that either the Dr will come and see her or another doctor??? Em the Dr was not available?? I then went up to the desk and told the receptionist that I can no longer wait and had to go. She then had the nerve to say to me 'What aren't you keeping your appointment?'
What???? My appointment and another patient's (there wasn't any) was long gone and NO APOLOGY. I wasn't even given a call with an apology and could they make a quick appointment to come and see me. the first time I see the Dr, I was in a bad bad way and he gave me tablets and wanted to review me regularly ............... good job that day I was not wanting to jump in front a train .................... I have not been back since due to this experience, I have been with this doctors since Brent House Surgery 40 years ago (a much better practice then) and doctors were caring and listened to you, even done house visits and I bet they weren't paid as well ..............There is no such thing either as receptionists asking what is wrong with you in order to direct you to a right doctor as I am given anyone and not one that specialises in depression. And regarding the date protection act which I have been dealing a lot with lately due to my work, they have no right to ask me and I have every right to tell them I don't want them to know. It is personal and confidential. It is a very bad practice now as I feel very let down.
My daughter went in with a very bad throat, we knew it was severe tonsillitis but a doctor could not see her, she had lost weight, vomiting, couldn't get out of bed but of course doctors don't do home visits if they can help it and we were told she had to come in. Not to see a doctor but a nurse who wrongly told her she had flu, not medication just what she could go and buy in a shop. The next day she was worse, again rang up and managed to get in to at last see a doctor, yes acute tonsillitis, steroids etc given straight away. How in this day and age can this be happening!!! I will continue my depression on my own."
