"You used to be able to book appointments online, but this has been stopped or the system is broken and hasnât been fixed in a month. So you now have to call first thing in the morning to book an appointment for that day, you can't book an appointment for the next day or later in the week, which is a joke when trying to arrange an appointment and be able to get the time off work to go to the bloody appointment!
The nurses are great and very helpful, but the doctors are terrible. I ended up getting a chest infection while on holiday skiing 2 years ago. My friends all had the same symptoms and their doctors (Not based at Orrell or Billinge) said they have a bad chest infection and were prescribed antibiotics, my doctor said I just had a cough and had to argue with him that my friends have all been given antibiotics on the back of their diagnosis, which he reluctantly agreed to medication, bearing in mind I'm an asthmatic and struggled to walk up stairs or the 200 metres to the Orrell practice from my house, but his bedside manner is atrocious and is reluctant to help and clearly counting down the minutes till retirement.
15 years ago my dad tore his Achilles tendon, the doctor, told him it was a mild sprain and to limit walking. A month later and numerous visits advising him itâs not getting better, he gave him some pain killers. After being messed about so much, my dad used his private medical insurance through work, who diagnosed immediately what he had done and arranged surgery a 4 days later.
Avoid this practice at all costs!"
