"We received a letter for our daughter's pre-school booster (MMR) at the Wishing Well Baby Clinic, part of the Integrated Care Partnership in the same building as Fitznells Manor Suregery. We couldn't make the appointment time because she has another appointment elsewhere, so I called up at 12:20 to try and rebook my daughter's immunisation. The hours given to call are between 9:00 - 14:00 which were specified on the letter we received.
Instead I got an answer machine message telling me that the phone number is only open between 9:00 and 12:30. Why put 9:00 - 14:00 on the letter and mislead so many people I wondered? That would lead to lots of unnecessary extra phone calls and complaints. Even more annoying is that I did call between 9:00 and 12:30. Yet I went straight to a recorded message with no opportunity to leave a message myself.
When I called the main ICP number I went straight through to a gatekeeper who told me the only thing she could do was to give me the number again. What possible use could that do? I asked for help in getting through again and again and was told repeatedly there was nothing she could do. I was then told she would transfer me to someone who could help and hung up on me. So much for all the training and new effort to turn things around after seven years of appalling service. There must be someone in charge of making sure the information is correct, surely? It can't all just go to a dead end in a call centre where no-one can help.
There are people who refuse to have their children immunised and we see outbreaks of diseases that kill children because of it. I'm trying desperately to have my child immunised and being blocked at every attempt. Why?"
