"After 40+ years with Heatherside Surgery, I have rated them as 5 star+ and my friends were envious of the care and follow-up I enjoyed. When the previous doctor was retiring I commented that I hoped they would bring Park Road up to their standard and he replied 'that is our intention'.
I have no problem with the reception staff or the nurses but the lack of availability of doctors and the long waiting time for appointments makes a mockery of the practice.
Unfortunately another doctor going on sick leave only made the matters worse and the use of locums or doctors who left after they saw me just made continuity impossible. On one occasion I was asked to speak to a triage nurse in order to get an appointment. What a pity! The reception staff were always very good and could easily teach the triage nurse I spoke to much about medical knowledge. I did get an appointment and the doctor confirmed that the statements made by the triage nurse were wrong.
I appreciate that the nurse should have introduced a higher level of service but in this case something went sadly wrong.
Having asked friends and family about their experience since the merger they all give it a thumbs down.
I have spoken to the Practice Manager a few times about other items relating to the surgery and she has always been friendly and helpful.
I understand that the Park Road group expect to interact with more patients by telephone than face to face. If you follow that to it's natural conclusion we could see local surgeries disappearing like high street shops and giving way to video appointments.
I still have hopes of seeing Heatherside Surgery return to it's former glory."
