"I write this mainly for encouragement to staff and potential new patients. The support my partner received from our doctor throughout her two year struggle with her brain tumour was always as kind and as well directed as it could be, given the relative rarity of her meningioma and its unpredictable side effects. Though it was obvious the doctors and reception were struggling under immense pressure, once we got face to face I always felt their real compassion and concern. Supportive medications were identified patiently at each symptomatic stage, including peripheral ones that helped with sleep and mood as well as pain relief. My concern would be for patients without partners or close carers because it is undeniably difficult to get appointments. Many times I would queue outside with others at 8.30 am to get a same day appointment. Always successfully thank you! Other times we would have to rely our doctor's telephone call backs, which were always made same day and well informed. That would not be so easy for patients in distress living alone. But I recognise that is a criticism of resources to be directed at NHS funders, not the Manor Park team. The end of life care and medications for my partner were very well organised in combination with the amazing St. Wilfrid's Hospice home care team. Thank you all for making a horrendous situation bearable."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
