"Truly appalling treatment from one particular doctor when making the decision to come off an SSNI. I was prescribed it last year by a doctor who is no longer at Mytton Oak because, and I quote, 'it wasn't for him'. If this doesn't speak volumes about the place I don't know what does.

When explaining the reasons I wanted to come off them I was told I should just take one every other day instead of daily. This is not possible as the half life of the tablets is so short that the withdrawal symptoms kick in by the next morning of not taking the tablets. I explained this and was told that I'm obviously not ready to come off them... for the physical withdrawal... It made no sense whatsoever and the Doctor clearly had no idea about this particular drug which is well known for it's almost heroin-like withdrawal symptoms, this was not explained when I was prescribed it otherwise I would never have taken in the first place.

I then made the decision to go it alone seeing as I got no help from the doctor and would have had to wait another 4 weeks for an appointment with another doctors as I'm not considered 'urgent'.

Since stopping taking the drug (I'm on day 3 off it) it's quite apparent that I shouldn't be driving a car let alone going to work as I'm unable to properly concentrate. This was not something which came up at any appointment with any of the doctors here.

I was made to feel as if I didn't matter, as if my mental health condition isn't important.

Before I took this drug I had suicidal thoughts, unprovoked, almost every day. Just because I present as an articulate well-dressed woman does not mean I am in ok and given my history you'd think this doctor may have cared more about me coming off them in case those thoughts returned.

The judgement and dismissal I received from this doctor was truly an eye-opener into where the biggest problem lies within the NHS, people who don't actually care about people. Surely that should be the number one pre-requisite for being a doctor?!

Advice to the doctor: If you don't know, just say and go find out rather than making me feel like I don't matter. Patients don't expect you to know everything, but they do expect you to try your best to help.

Needless to say, I've moved practice. Between this doctor and a handful of Miss Trunchbull receptionists, it's not worth the detrimental affect it was having on my mental health being there.

Note to Mytton Oak: Please refrain from sending a response like the others. I have chosen to write this review anonymously because I highly doubt this would be investigated properly or have any positive outcome if I reported it officially and *that* should be your biggest takeaway here. Instead of writing patronising replies, investigate why people feel this way about your surgery and make positive changes."
