"Can be a bit hard trying to get an appointment as there is only one GP and nurse in the afternoon when the appointments start. Although getting an appointment at any GP seems pretty hard. I have been coming here for the last two months (1st year at brooks) and really like the nurse walk in service, I have been a few times for different things and as you don't need an appointment (which is hard to get) you can get things fixed the same day at uni. I have seen two different nurses, a lady and a man, and both were lovely. Every time they knew what was wrong with me and how to make me better. What was also nice is that they actually explained things and answered my questions. I have seen a GP there as well who was also lovely and explained things. The receptionists always seem to be different, and could maybe be a bit more friendly, but I know that they are busy. I can definitely reccomend the medical centre at brooks, much better than my doctors at home."

Dr Ko Ko Laing qualified in 1989, his previous surgery in Victory Road merged with the Portsdown Group in April 2010. He is a highly experienced GP, is based in Kingston Crescent Surgery he has a number of special interest which includes medicine, rheumatology and joint injections. He is a keen tennis player and also enjoys travel.

Dr Peter Kipgen

Dr Kipgen qualified from Barts and the London Medical School in 2006 (MBBS). He completed his GP training in Dorset in 2015 (MRCGP). He has a broad range of experience gained from hospital posts earlier in his career; these include paediatrics, sexual health, orthopaedics and emergency medicine. In his spare time he enjoys hill-walking and is a keen amateur chef. He also enjoys playing and watching sport especially rugby and football.

Dr Philip Monnery qualified from ST George’s Hospital Medical School in 1991, Undertaking a career in the Royal Air force. Initially undertaking surgical training and specialising in Ear, Nose and Throat he became a consultant in the Military in 2006. A change in life goals meant a change to general practice in 2009. He joined Portsdown Group Practice in 2015 and maintains his special interest in ENT and is responsible for the Portsdown Travel Clinic. He is married to Alison and has three children who keep them both very busy. He likes nothing better than to relax in the garden and is frequently seen with either a chainsaw or an axe, what could go wrong!?

Dr Catherine Tuson

Qualifications - BSc, MBChB, MRCGP

Dr Cat Tuson graduated from Warwick University in 2007 and joined the Practice in 2013 having completed her GP training in the North East of England. She has a special interest in orthopaedics and joint injections and also in women’s health.
